This is a manual for enjoying France and a well considered celebration of things French. Peter Davidson makes the journey from England to the very heart of France recounting his adventures as they happen - he makes you feel at home in France! He can do this because he has visited France many times, has many French friends and has taught French to the English, English to the French and even appeared on French Television. So we travel from Portsmouth to CAEN by Ferry then through ALENCON, visiting TOURS and NEVERS on our way to THE BOURBONNAIS - traditional home of French Kings. There we explore JALIGNY, LAPALISSE, MOULINS, VICHY and 'LA MONTAGNE'. The climax is getting to know the 'prolifically interesting' City of LYON. This Video embraces French Tradition and French Innovation. The Town, The Country and All Sorts of People - with glimpses of Places All Over France. The Northern Images focus on the area in and around ARDRES and St.OMER - and include the Chateau - like Maison Internationale of THE CITE UNIVERSITAIRE in PARIS. The Southern Images begin with The Roman Triumphal Arch in ORANGE and then show us ALBI, The Mediterranean Seaside and St. PONS. The 'Castle' is Le Palais des Papes in AVIGNON. Van Gogh is seen at St.REMY and in the surrounding countryside. Then there is a PARISIAN SEQUENCE. We join a loving couple in BEAUNE and conclude with the 'Pyramid' that is Leisure Housing in LANGUEDOC - ROUSSILLON. |

This Video dovetails with his earlier AN INVITATION TO FRANCE which emphasises the route from CAEN with TOURS and LYON centre stage. Both are friendly and direct, and positively help us towards the rich idea that is France. Peter Davidson focuses his experience as a Writer, Actor, Tourist Guide, Film Maker and Francophile in presentations which both gladden the heart and enliven the mind.
