The aim of this presentation is to put people into a frame of mind to enjoy Contemporary Art.
Peter Davidson works in visual media and is used to sharing his enthusiasms with people in Art Schools and Universities, and with people generally.
This Video includes A Guide to Approaching Imagery with explorations of Scale, Materials, Colour, The Significance of Titles, Context, The position of The Spectator and so on. Students' projects give insight into how artists think. We also make A Visit to a wide ranging Contemporary Art Gallery. Here are some of the ideas taken on by this video:- 'The Artist must come down from The Ivory Tower and Programme The Environment' - 'The eyes are animals...they will never forget that red is the colour of blood' - 'Art is anything you can get away with' - 'Contemporary Art is an intensification of The Way we Live Now' This is a thoroughgoing invitation to share in the imagery of today - and of tomorrow. |

This Video adds a dimension to The Poetry of Peter Davidson. The Poems have already been published on Audio Cassette, now they are enriched by his own Visuals. His approach is very various - from meticulous Filming on Location to all the freedoms of Video Dreams.
I found this an exciting thing to do. I hope you enjoy it.

Here's a rich development of Peter Davidson's first presentation of his own Poems and Visuals:'Together'...
His themes are very wide ranging - from Backstage Secrets ('Lest We Forget', 'The Real Thing') to 4 poems about The Gulf War There are poems written in outrage like 'Chinese White' - about Tiananmin Square - and unabashedly jovial pieces like 'Nude' or 'A Stocking Filler'. This video also contains some revealing poems about animals and a whole sequence where everyday objects command thier own worlds. The visual content varies from 'true-life documentary' to several different kinds of collage and - in 'Snake', for instance - also embraces the electronic processes of Television and also Painting - as in 'Vice Versa'. His ambition is to create a fresh dimension for a poem without obscuring the original - 'not easy but well worth it - it's like making a set of individual films to an already established and powerfully intricate sound track'. |
